What can Acupuncture and Chinese medicine treat?

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a holistic system of primary health care used by millions of people around the world. Based on a theoretical framework continuously developed over thousands of years. It is an ancient practice which continues to evolve and maintain a place in contemporary health care.

Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture aims to assist the human body when it is no longer functioning optimally due to stress, overwork, poor diet and other factors. Current evidence and research shows that it may provide effective relief for a wide range of symptoms associated with acute and chronic health conditions. It places much emphasis on maintaining general health and musculoskeletal function.

At Wise Acupuncture we draw upon traditional wisdom and contemporary research in recommending a range of interventions which may include acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, gua sha, cupping, moxibustion, exercise and breathing therapy (including Qi Gong), diet and lifestyle advice.

There is evidence based research that indicates that Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine may be useful in the management of a range of musculoskeletal problems, both acute and chronic, through relaxing muscle tension and/or inflammation. women's health, allergic rhinitis (hay-fever, sinusitis), inflammation and pain management to name a few. A list of research papers can be found under the Acupuncture Information button on this website. This list will be updated and added to from time to time.

With its focus on health maintenance and preventative medicine traditional Chinese medicine is suitable for all ages from babies to the elderly.

The acupuncture is performed with single use pre-sterilised stainless steel needles which range from 0.12 -0.25mm in diameter. They are placed in specific points around the body using the body's natural biological structures, neurological and chemical pathways (or Qi) to create a sense of well-being.
Your well trained practitioner will make your acupuncture session a pleasant and relaxing experience.
WISE ACUPUNCTURE also uses laser treatments if required.
